The patriarch of The Peterson Company is Howard C. Peterson. In 1949, Howard rode a Harley-Davidson from his hometown of Janesville, Wisconsin, to attend the Indianapolis 500. He was 19 years old and had just $20 in his pocket. However, he liked Indy so much that he decided to stay and soon found a job laying blocks for houses. That set him on the path to becoming a general contractor and eventually a developer with great success.
Howard Peterson was a highly respected businessman, civic leader, and philanthropist who had a tremendous impact on Indianapolis. His passion, vision, character, and principles continue to guide The Peterson Company today

As a managing member at The Peterson Company, Bret oversees the Construction team, focusing on client relations, team building, expanding markets, and new opportunities. With years of experience in the commercial construction industry, Bret has overseen multiple significant projects throughout the country.
Bret earned his Bachelor of Science in Construction Technology from Indiana State University.
As a managing member at The Peterson Company, David oversees the Property Services team, which is responsible for more than 200 buildings in Central Indiana, Ft Wayne, Columbus, Ohio, and Cincinnati, Ohio. His team deals with local, regional, and national property owners. Dave relies on his more than 25 years of facility maintenance experience to solve problems for tenants and owners.
As a managing member and the CEO, Tom has high-level responsibility for all critical core functions across all divisions and departments of The Peterson Company. Tom is a CPA with 35 years of business experience. That experience includes five years in public accounting, a successful stint as a small business owner, 10+ years as a controller, and over a decade as a senior-level executive.
Tom earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Indiana University.
As President of Development Services, Matt oversees all aspects of client project development, site planning, incentives, project sourcing, and transaction negotiation. He brings 8 years of experience in commercial/industrial development throughout the Midwest.
He earned his Bachelor of Science from Indiana University, a Master’s degree from Purdue University, and his MBA from the University of South Florida
As CFO, Ken has responsibility for all aspects of the Accounting department, including budgeting, financial analysis, compliance and monthly financial statements. He is a CPA and results-oriented Finance leader, with over 16 years of accounting experience – comprised of 3 years in public accounting, growing from Staff Accountant to CFO over 9 years at a healthcare IT consulting company and 4 years here at The Peterson Company.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Management at the University of Evansville.
As Senior Vice President, Manish is focused on client relations, business development, pre-construction services and expanding Peterson’s platform into new markets and industry segments. With over 30 years of experience in construction and development, Manish has worked in numerous cities on a variety of projects.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan.
As a Vice President of Construction at The Peterson Company, Matt oversees all aspects of the company’s Tenant Improvement division. This includes personnel management and development while championing quality, financial, and schedule accountability across every project. Matt manages the company’s overall safety program and works closely with the executive team to provide strategic input on the development of company policies and procedures, strengthening operational consistency and setting the standard for excellence across the organization.
Matt earned his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Purdue University.
As a Vice President of Construction, Nate primarily focuses on the success of our ground-up projects. He ensures smooth transitions from our preconstruction team to operations, while driving the performance and development of our construction personnel. He is responsible for our team delivering realistic yet aggressive project schedules while maintaining sharp focus on quality assurance and project financial health. Nate holds our teams accountable to the highest standards and his leadership ensures that projects are executed efficiently, timely, and beyond the satisfaction of our clients.
Nate earned his Bachelor of Science from Valparaiso University.
As Vice President of Preconstruction, Brian works with Peterson’s internal and external team to develop project scope and cost from conception through final design and hand-off to Operations. Brian believes the focus of Preconstruction should be on developing, documenting, and communicating a clear project scope of work and well-defined budget for the benefit of both the project Owner and the Construction Team.
Brian earned his Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering and Management from Purdue University.
As Vice President of the Property Services Division, Matt leads The Peterson Company’s HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, and General Maintenance departments. He drives operational performance, develops high-performing teams, and ensures clients receive responsive, quality service.
With more than 20 years of industry experience, Matt has advanced through progressive leadership roles since joining The Peterson Company in 2007. He has helped grow the division while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service.
